The sweetest and juiciest peach you'll ever eat.
Remember when you used to wait every summer with anticipation to sink your teeth into a sweet, juicy, fragrant, sun-ripened peach and the juice would run down your chin? Well, get ready to relive that great taste of the ol’ days!

In 1996 we set out to find the perfect peach and found two growers who were doing things just right. In our own backyard, local grower Bert Pence of Pence Orchards in Wapato, Washington and organic growers Frog Hollow Farm in Brentwood, California.

Pence Orchards is a fourth-generation family farm in the lower Yakima Valley. Tree ripe peaches are the mainstay for owners Bert and Sharon Pence - and the most popular with our customers. The Pence’s selected their farm location in the Union Gap area of Yakima County due to the perfect soils for growing a variety of peaches and other stone fruits. This area prevents cold weather freezes and the overheating of the peaches during the hot summer by allowing the air to circulate through the orchard.

Al Courchesne, or ‘Farmer Al’, is a city boy who grew up in California and became a farmer at the age of 30. In 1976, he planted his first peach orchard on his farm in Brentwood, California, as peaches are his favorite fruit. Thirteen years later,
in 1989, Al began farming organically in large part because of a commitment he wanted to make to the soil, water and community he lived in. Farmer Al has been a vigorous advocate for sustainable land use, conservation, and organic farming practices throughout his career.

17-18 Unbelievable peach. Almost goes beyond the human threshold for pleasure.

15-16 Extraordinary peach. Aromatic, juicy, flavor-packed, very sweet. Deep gold background color when fully ripe.

13-14 Excellent, sweet-tasting, flavorful. (Our Brix level standard)

11-12 Inconsistant ripening and flavor

7-10 Will not ripen properly. Off flavors are common

Ever wonder what sets an average grocery store peach apart from a Peach-O-Rama peach? Brix! Each day we measure Brix, or sugar levels in our Peach-O-Rama peaches (using a tool called a refractometer). The higher the Brix level, the more flavorful, aromatic, sweeter and juicier the peach. Our minimum standard is 13 and some of our peaches measure to 18 or higher, while chain stores often sell peaches at 11 or under. So each day, look for our Brix ratings as your personal guarantee of sweetness!

It's the start of peach season and all month long, Metropolitan Market is celebrating the juicy fruit with their annual "Peach-O-Rama"! Met. Market's produce coordinator Dino Medica came to King 5's New Day to show us how to choose the sweetest fruit at the grocery store.

The Cal Red has a rich, golden background color marked with a gentle, blush of red. In a class by itself, the flavor is spectacular.

Large yellow fruit and small pit, very sweet and excellent
for fresh eating, and a favorite for canning.

Ripens mid-July, a few days after Flamecrest. Fruit is of large size, firm and good flavor. Skin is a bright red. An excellent producer and excellent shipping peach

A brightly colored, large peach with only a slight fuzz. The flesh is yellow, sweet and juicy with a little red streaking and superb flavor. The fruit is large, bright red, firm and will keep well. O'Henry ripens late in the season and is excellent for freezing.

Regina peaches are attractive with a red blush over the yellow color of the skin.
These are firm, with yellow flesh, a red center and smooth texture.
Excellent flavor and good for canning.

This fruit is similar to the O'Henry: Large, round to irregular shape, yellow firm flesh streaked with red, excellent flavor. Summer Lady peaches store well.

Large fruit with firm, yellow flesh and melting good flavor. Skin has a bright blush over yellow. Late harvest and very productive.

Zee Lady’s have red coloration on the skin and around the pit and are large with firm fruit, sensational flavor and excellent quality. Probably too much coloration for canning,
but it is a superb freezing peach.
